Lodi California may be best known because it was immortalized in a song by...

Credence Clearwater Revival

If Credence Clearwater Revival was performing today the promoters would probably bounce them between the boxes called folk --or is that singer songwriter-- and americana. But that was the 60's and I guess they were just classed as rock and made appearances in many places, including San Francisco's Filmore West, with this killer psychedelic poster. For those who don't know San Francisco is a little place about an hour kind of west of Lodi

Stuck in Lodi was on one of their albums. Stuck and Lodi in such close proximity to each other. Coincidence? We think not, but you decide for yourself...

Lodi

Just about a year ago

I set out on the road

Seekin my fame and fortune

Lookin for a pot a gold

Things got bad

And things got worse

I guess you know the tune

Oh Lord

Stuck in Lodi - uh

Rode in on a greyhound

But I 'll be walkin out if go

I was just passin through

Must be seven months or more

I ran out of time and money

Looks like they took my friends

Oh Lord

Stuck in Lodi - uh

A man from the magazine

Said I was on my way

Somewhere I lost connections

I ran out of songs to play

I came into town a one night stand

Looks like my plans fell through

Oh Lord

Stuck in Lodi - uh

If I only had a dollar

For every song I've sung

Every time I've had to play

While people set there drunk

You know I'd catch the next train

Back to where I live

Oh, Lord, Stuck in Lodi - uh

Oh, Lord Stuck in Lodi - uh

If you really like Credence and want more lyrics, you can find a bunch over the psyche-ma-delic rainbow at someone else's site. You'll even find a slighter different version of the lyrics to Lodi there. This version? A Wood Chuck whispered it in my ear...

And if you want more proof they know what they're talking about, in 1993 they were sucked into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame mother ship. Or if obsession is any indication, how about this guy how rolled the names of over 100 Credence songs into a story. I won't say it's good. I will say someone needs therapy.

And if you'rd like to know anything else, I'll fess up now... almost everything on this page came from someone else's brain. I'm usually caught on different musical fields.
